Depending on your individual situation, Dr. Scott will come up with a custom treatment plan just for you. Often treatment includes scaling and root planing, where our skilled hygiene team numbs the area and quadrant by quadrant cleans below the gum line. If you experience gum recession, Dr. Scott is experienced in the prestigious Chao Pinhole Technique. Traditional recession was surgically treated by cutting strips of tissue from the roof of the mouth, cutting and lifting the gum tissue and stitching the grafted tissue to the gums, covering the exposed tooth and tooth root. The procedure was painful and invasive. However, with Dr. Scott there is no need to experience all that pain. By utilizing the pinhole technique gums are lengthened, covering the recessed area without grafting or cutting.
Dr. Scott makes a tiny pinhole in the gum tissue and gently lifts the tissue away from the teeth, slowly stretching the gums down.
Once stretched, tiny pieces of silicone are inserted to help stabilize the newly stretched gums.
